Greg's romance of for the river began more than twenty years ago. He is a very experienced and qualified skipper who has risen through the ranks of deckhand, engineer, builder and maintainer of various paddle vessels.

Greg's family history goes back to the days of a bustling river trade, which was the Murray become and important inland highway carrying goods into and out of remote parts of Australia.

Greg's family came by sea to Australia in 1890 to join in the great vision Canadians, George and William Chaffey had in establishing an irrigation colony in Australia. They sold up in England, sailed to Australia, boarded a Paddle steamer called the Gem and traveled upstream some 500 miles to a small settlement on the banks of the Murray River called Mildura.
Great difficulties were encountered in those early years, but through hard work and perseverance, the desert like surrounds of this small part of Australia have now been developed into one of Australia's most productive food bowls. From the outlaying dry land farming areas to the oasis of lush irrigated grape vines, citrus and other fresh food products. This area focuses on the great benefits of Australia's greatest rivers, the Murray and Darling Rivers
